Custom Dog & Horse Portrait Paintings
Some stories deserve to be told beyond a photograph.
Andrea Webb offers custom acrylic and watercolor portrait commissions of dogs and horses, created in a contemporary realism style that captures expression, presence, and personality.
Each portrait is painted by hand using either professional images from Andrea Webb or high-quality reference photos you already have. With a background rooted in animal photography, Andrea brings the same attention to expression, anatomy, and the individual character of each animal into her painted work.
Whether created as a memorial, a celebration of a beloved companion, or simply a piece of artwork for your home, each painting is created individually with care and respect for the animal it represents.
Acrylic & Watercolor Portraits
Clients may choose between two mediums:
Acrylic Paintings offer rich color, texture, depth, and a more substantial painted surface. Acrylic commissions are created on canvas and work especially well for larger statement pieces.
Watercolor Paintings offer a softer, more expressive quality while still maintaining Andrea's contemporary realism style. Watercolor is particularly suited to capturing delicate details, movement, and expression.
Both styles are created as original, one-of-a-kind works of art.
What These Paintings Are Perfect For
Celebrating your dog or horse through original artwork
Memorial portraits honoring beloved past companions
Meaningful, personal artwork for your home
Gifts for horse and dog lovers
A painted companion to an existing portrait session
These commissions are especially meaningful for clients who already have a connection to Andrea's photography and want to continue that story through another artistic medium.
Reference Photos
Paintings can be created from:
Professional images from a session with Andrea Webb
Client-provided photographs, including quality phone images
For best results, reference photographs should have good lighting, minimal harsh shadows, and a clear view of the animal's features and expression.
Not sure which photograph will translate best into a painting? Andrea is happy to help select the strongest reference image before beginning your commission.
Background Options
Depending on the medium, reference image, and overall vision for the piece, portraits may feature:
The original or simplified background inspired by the reference photograph
A simple black background, inspired by Andrea's fine art photography
A minimal or softly painted background that keeps the animal as the primary focus
Background options will be discussed before the commission begins.

Typical completion time is approximately 3–5 weeks from reference photo approval, although larger or more detailed pieces may require additional time.

Important Notes
Commissioned paintings are interpretive works of original art rather than exact reproductions of photographs.
Minor artistic variations are an intentional part of the handmade process.
Colors may vary slightly from the original reference photograph when necessary for the finished artwork.
Due to the custom nature of commissioned artwork, all sales are final.
Shipping, framing, and other requested finishing options are not included unless specifically stated in your quote.
A Thoughtful Way to Remember & Celebrate
Whether honoring a cherished companion who has passed or celebrating the animal beside you today, a commissioned painting creates something tangible and entirely unique to them.
Andrea's background in animal photography provides the foundation, while acrylic and watercolor offer a different way to capture the expressions, details, and personalities that make our animals unmistakably their own.
